Lake Garda Tour Testimonials

As a consultant of Noller & Turner Travel Associates I have recommended Bryan & Nevis's Lake Garda Tour to a number of my clients & the feedback from them has been very positive.
I decided that as part of our overseas holiday this year (2015) we would include the 8 day tour.  We managed to get another four friends to join us so had the tour to ourselves, so to speak.
It was everything I expected and more.  We're not usually a "group tour" couple but this is something quite different.  Staying in the one place is definitely a plus & we stayed at Hotel Meridiana which we loved.  We had a month in Italy but Hotel Meridiana was voted as having the best breakfast throughout our trip.
The tour is an easy pace with free time either in the morning or late afternoon.  We managed to swim in the Lake a couple of days & hired bikes one afternoon to ride along the lakeside path.  Bryan's knowledge of the area is unbelievable & the local knowledge meant we visited & ate at the most interesting places.  AND the main thing, not many other tourists.

Having visited Lake Como prior to L.Garda, we had a good opportunity to compare the two. And I have to say that L.Garda wins by the proverbial country mile. Garda is prettier, greener, less touristy and more friendly. The towns are lovely and more individual whereas the towns around L.Como had a certain sameness to each other. Nives and Bryan ran their tour very professionally. Bryan has really studied up on the history of the area and provided an excellent commentary on the areas visited and the program provided a good balance between excursions and free time to shop etc. Our hotel accommodation was much better that we expected but I think we were upgraded due to the regular hotel being booked out. It was nice not having to pack up and move on every other day like in most tours. Our vehicle was brand new and comfortable and of course Bryan is an exceptionally good driver having had all that experience. We did have a couple of wet days so Nives altered the days around accordingly so we didn’t miss out on anything. Lee and I can highly recommend the Garda experience especially as an add-on to other European holidays.

All up a pretty glowing report!

My husband and I travelled in August 2013 with Lake Garda Tours, hosted by Nevis and Bryan King.

I had visited Lake Garda several years before but, until I travelled with Nevis and Bryan, I had no full appreciation of how beautiful the Lake and its surroundings are and how extensive and diverse are the region's attractions (both natural and man- made).

The scenery is simply spectacular with mountains descending almost to the waters edge on both sides of the Lake. Then there are the numerous small towns and villages dotted along the Lake's edge and up into the foothills of the mountains, each with their own unique charm and history. Everything is in relatively close proximity and together they provide an extraordinary 5-7 day experience for any traveller.

In our view, the big plus with Lake Garda Tours is what Nevis and Bryan bring to the tour experience. With Nevis's direct family connections with the region plus Bryan's extensive experience in land tours in Europe, they have the necessary knowledge and imagination to take full advantage of what Lake Garda offers in a boutique tour package

Each day is carefully planned so that you will have time to enjoy each Lake attraction without being rushed. And the "unpack once" arrangement only further enhances the experience by giving you more time to relax and tour the sites rather than constantly packing and re-packing.

You'll be part of a small like-minded group and taken to places that are both wonderful and unexpected. With Nevis' never-ending contacts, you'll meet the locals and have time to sit down and hear their story. One of our great memories was walking into the tiny medieval village of Campo and meeting three of the village's five residents over lunch. And yes, Nevis acts as your translator.

Bryan's knowledge of the region and its history is extensive and authoritative Each day you will be fascinated by his commentary on the places you visit as you are being driven around. You can even ask questions; we did but we hardly ever caught him out. Bryan is also a highly skilled driver and guide with many years experience in Europe and you will always feel safe and secure on the sometimes windy, narrow roads around the Lake. Don't forget to ask Bryan for a map so you can follow where you are going!

Many people have asked us what was the highlight of the tour and honestly there were so many it was difficult to answer. Each day had its own highlights. For me it was the walk down to the Madonna della Corona Church on a beautiful tiny winding road lined with tall slender pine trees in the peace and quiet of the morning. You pass 15 bronze statues representing the last steps of Christ to arrive at this amazing Church hanging from the edge of the cliffs. You don't have to be a religious person to appreciate the beauty and tranquillity of this special place.

Other highlights were the visit to the Peace Bell at Rovereto - the biggest ringing bell in the world 3.36 metres high and weighing 22,639 tonnes!! A must for everyone. The cable car ride to the top of the beautiful Monte Baldo where you see people with bikes, dogs walking the mountain trails and look over the extraordinary views to the Lake below. And let's not forget some of the dinners.

I could go on forever................ but the best thing is for you to visit this wonderful area, and enjoy it all with Nevis and Bryan of Lake Garda Tours.

The Real Italy

The jewel in the crown of our Italian holiday was the small group “Lake Garda Tours”. Based in a boutique hotel in Malcesine, where the daughter is the host and mother prepared beautiful breakfasts made us really feel welcome.Being picked up each morning by Bryan and Nevis King for our daily adventure was exciting and each day just got better. From the mountain peaks of Monte Baldo, to sailing the lake in the original restored windjammer, and then in the evening watching the sunset from one of the many lakeside restaurants on offer proved quite romantic.

Bryan’s local history knowledge, together with Nevis’ family connections made for a really authentic Italian experience, such as a long lunch with a friend of Nevis’ who lives in a village dating back to 900AD. Also lunch at a farmhouse with all local produce, including ricotta cheese gnocchi, salami and of course, local wine. The small villages around the lake are spectacular and the farewell dinner in a medieval castle was straight out of a fairy tale. The roman ruins show Lake Garda has been a special place for rest and recuperation for centuries. Just an amazing week and we’ve talked about it every day since.
